My name is Adrian Smith and I’m a software developer living in Dublin, Ireland.
I started programming BASIC on the C64 back when the Terminator 2 pack was the must have christmas present and Zzap! 64 was the magazine of the day. After the C64 I moved on to the Amiga 600 and AMOS Basic. From there it was on to college where I used COBOL, C, Foxpro (the old DOS version), RPG and a bit of Assembler. For the past few years Java has been my main language but I’ve also done some small stuff with Ruby and Python. I’d consider myself a decent programmer (in the 20%) with a fair bit of experience under my belt.
I started my career as a DBA/programmer/sysadmin at what was then GE Capital EEF. The company seems to have been split up since then. From there I went to FINEOS where I spent eight very enjoyable years as a Technical Consultant. After that I joined Meteor as a Systems Architect. Today I’m a consultant with Friends First.
My claim to fame is the password manager Universal Password Manager which I developed a few years ago.
Aside from technology I practice taekwondo and play the guitar (although I’m better at Guitar Hero).
